Medina Suyasa

On leaving Abarán the landscape is transformed as we enter a larger valley well known for its orchards particularly its peaches for which a celebration is held every summer in the capital of the area. Cieza.

For history lovers, Cieza offers the most important Arabic site region, the Islamic city of medina Suyasa located on the Cerro del Castillo preserves its original urban layout the structure of the houses and even the drainage system.

The arabs remained at this place whose name in Arabic means political city until their final expulsion after the Treaty of Alcaraz.

The finds from Medina Siyasa are exhibited at the Archeological Museum which also includes examples of Artefacts from the paleolithic up to the middle ages.
