Sierra Espuna

For trekking and mountain bike lovers the entrance to Sierra Espuña, the most emblematic of all region´s nature reserves is in fact in Alhama.

Here you may choose to follow the trails that start by the Warden´s house in huerta Espuña or perhaps decide to take your chances along the valle del Leiva presents a vertical Cliff-face with more than 70 ways to climb it with various degrees of difficulty ranging from 3 to 7 Or, if you prefer in the Sierra de la Muela go in for some hang-gliding.

A few kilometres from here is Totana, the second town in Spain in number of potteries, 22 workshops are spread out between the local road to alhama and the old pottery district near the Town Hall.

The diversity of the work produced is extraordinary; large earthen jars for storing olives and wine are created on the potters wheels, together with pots, spice jars, drinking jugs, earthenware bowl and glazed clay vessels. And very special amongst them is the well known cantara de Totana
