Surprisingly enough from amidst this barren landscape appears the thermal baths of Fortuna.

The waters here emerge at 53º C containing a great proportion of sodium, sulphur and fluoride. This combined with an extremely dry climate, provide excellent relief against colds. Rheumatism and asthma.

The facilities at the spa comprise 3 hotels, medical services, and an open air pool filled with thermal water. The hotels are all directly linked with the thermal baths, and truly retain the charm of the early years of this century.

Our best choice when leaving the highlands is to follow the road to la Garapacha visiting the Regional park of la Pila, along a forest trail which climbs up along the range.

The park offers an extraordinary number of more than 470 flower species. In the whole of south eastern spain some of these species are unique to here. Near the summit are the remains of three snow wells, used in old times for the production of ice.
