Caravaca

A legendary city with a full array of festive and cultural offerings. Stroll through the streets of a border town; hear fascinating and astonishing stories and traditions in our four visitor centres. Caravaca will surprise you with its Vera Cruz, its medieval layout, its people, and its nature…and you will see something special: Moorish and Christian troops, the beautiful adornments of the Caballos del vino and a whole city to be enjoyed.

Cloud start in the calle corredera at the template monument where the cross is washed on the 3rd of may every year. The convent of the Jerónimos, now a Cultural centre is very close by.

If you continue along this avenue you will come to the church of the conception with its splendid mudejar coffered, ceiling and also the baroque church of El Carmen. Go up the historical quarter to the popular Caballos del Vino square. Notice the striking ochre-coloured façade of the santa Elena church.

Emblazoned houses abound on the streets of Canalejas, mayor puentecilla and gregorio Javier. In the plaza del santo the shrine of San Sebastian or saint sebastians chapel. You will arrive at the palace of la encomienda, a place that was home to the order of saint james.


Farther on the church of the Compañía de jesus and the san josé church with its rococo style alpartpiece. The next noteworthy point on our journey is the Arco square with the baroque building which houses the town hall and the monument to the moor and the Christian.

You can continue towards the church of El Salvador, a splendid example of murcian renaissance architecture, the monastery of santa clara and the town bullring We will concluded our journey by going up to the Vera cruz sanctuary.
