La manga Resorts
Hardly one kilometre from Islas Menores lies Los Nietos, a tiny fishing
village always booked out in the summer. We arrive at Los urrutias after
leaving Los Nietos either after a short drive or simply after a long
walk along the beach. Again the same family atmosphere, common to all
these resorts in the area.
Here are the headquarters of the Mar Menor Regatta Club.
Further along the Mar menor and right at the centre of its shoreline
we arrive at the first major town, Los Alcazares. Reminiscences from
its noble past may still be perceived in this tourist resort.
The two storey buildings along its promenade remind one of those summer
days early this century when the people from the capital reached for
the coast in search of the shelter provided by these warm brackish waters.
And from that time, the Hotel de la Encarnación is still running.
We find Murcia San javier airport on our way from Los Alcazares to
Santiago de la Ribera as well as the Infanta Cristina high Performance
Centre where elite sportsmen come to achieve an optimum training for
the big competitions.
The village of Los Narejos signals the township´s limits running
into San Javier a town that also enjoys the presence of the coast thanks
to its district of Santiago de la Ribera. Here the population increases
in the summer by virtue of its hotels. You may also find here the headquarters
of the Spanish Air Force Academy.
Lo pagan is our final destination along the shoreline of the Mar Menor.
This is a holiday resort which has an offer of numerous villa estates
to meet the large tourist demand in the summer.
