Lorca Festivities
The rivalry between the brotherhoods of the Blancos and their Virgen
de la Amargura and the Azules with their Virgen de los Dolores perfectly
outlines the fiestas de Holy Week officially declared of national touristic
interest.
The calendar of festivities its rounded off in February with the Pilgrimage
of the Virgen de la Candelaria to the Hermitage of la Salud.
Then in September with the Moros y cristianos and finally San Clemente´s
day when it is customary to climb up to a place called the Cejo de los
Enamorados, to have some migas de harina, fried flour crumbs, while
listening to different traditional folklore groups.
Also of interest are the Arts and Crafts Fair of the Region of Murcia
held in the third week of September; the National Pork Week held in
the second week of September and the day of the Virgen de la huerta
the patron saint of Lorca on the 8th of September.
