Lorca Gastronomy

Pork is a fundamental ingredient in understanding the cuisine from Lorca since magnificent pigs are bred in this area. Their meat combined with the excellent local vegetable produce make up many peculiar and tasty dishes.

Sausages such as morcillas and chorizos are all renown. Other dishes of interest are arroz con pava, arroz y pavo con pelotas, olla gitana, a kind of vegetable stew, arroz con trigo y caracoles, conejo con trigo and pipirrana, roasted tomatoes and peppers in a salad.

In terms of sweets do not miss the chance to try out the famous picardias made of sugar, lemon juice and hazelnuts.
